Field Study #6

All of the snow that was on the ground since last time has melted. The tall brush weeds have been pretty much pushed down to the ground. The creek had water in it. It wasn't flowing fast, but it was moving along. There are lots of leaves still on the ground, and no leaves on the trees. I couldn't find any tracks, but a few days ago I saw 3 doe deer. A picture is attached. Also almost every night, there are multiple coyotes in the back field that are barking and howling, chasing rabbits in the woods. You can hear the rabbits screech sometimes when they get caught. The grass is more of a sad looking darker green, this happens when it gets colder out. You can tell there has been water running in the creek for a while, because the grasses in the creek are pushed down in the way the water flows.

  9/8/22 6:15 pm  Full Sun  78 Degrees Fahrenheit  Sunrise - 7:19 AM Sunset - 8:05 PM I heard lots of crickets and bugs in the brush. A few birds here and there but other than that there wasn't much I saw this time. The grass was crunchy under my feet, which means that it hasn't rained much lately and it was dry outside. We had just mowed and weed wacked the creek so it will be cool to see how the weeds grow over time. Not much color change yet, but the temperature is going down so maybe I'll see some change in the trees soon.

 11/15/22 7:45 AM Snow  31  Degrees Fahrenheit  Sunrise - 7:36 AM Sunset - 5:21 PM There was some old snow left on the ground, and some new snow, when I went out this morning. There is basically no leaves left in the trees. The tall grasses are pushed down a bit, and not standing straight up, probably somewhat to do with the snow compressing them, and the cold weather making some of them die and stop growing. It has gotten very cold and there isn't much wildlife activity that I have seen. The creek is flowing water like last time, probably because the little snowfall we had a few days ago is melting. I didn't see any tracks in the snow, which is surprising, because we normally have a bit of wildlife in this area.

 9/17/22 6:45 PM Partly cloudy  56 Degrees Fahrenheit Sunrise - 7:40 AM Sunset - 7:29 PM There was some birds that flew over while I was at my spot. There was lots of bugs making noise in the brush. The grass wasn't dry like last time, probably because it has rained a lot recently. I didn't see anything besides a few birds.  The grass grew a few inches since I was there last, and the trees have dropped a few leaves, but haven't started changing colors yet. There crick bank was caved in a little bit more in some places because of the heavy rain last weekend, and there was still a bit more water in it than usual. The grass hasn't been growing as fast, because it has been colder. some of the sediment drops have gotten bigger because the crick overflows, so the sediment is picked up and then dropped into certain places.
